Mary Elizabeth Marvin

Contemporary Artist

Biography

Mary Elizabeth Marvin is a museum-trained contemporary artist whose abstract paintings explore memory, atmosphere, and the quiet experience of place. Working in evolving series rather than isolated works, she creates paintings intended to reveal themselves gradually through time and attention.

Her practice has been shaped by decades of dedicated studio work, museum-based study at the Corcoran College of Art + Design in Washington, DC, and artist residencies at Vermont Studio Center, Millay Arts, and Burren College of Art in Ireland. These experiences fostered a lifelong commitment to careful observation and the enduring power of restraint.

Marvin's original paintings are held in private collections throughout the United States and internationally. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and museums and placed within residential, corporate, hospitality, and healthcare environments. She is represented by SH Modern Art in Naples, Florida.

Earlier work, exhibitions, publications, and licensed collections may appear under her former professional name, MaryElizabeth Peterson.
